Description

Hi Erik, I'm not sure it's a bug. Maybe it's just me who don't understand how it works. But when I call the standings method for NBA, I get weird teams' rank value. For example, I get the Magic 7th with 14-11 so a win percentage of 0.560 and I also get the Pistons 7th with 15-12 so a win percentage of 0.556. So my question is : why do I not get the same ranks that you display on the page /nba/standings (which is the good one) ? I thought the team's rank was calculated as you explain at the bottom of the standings page, but maybe I misunderstood what was the rank ? Best regards, Xavier

Closing Comment

The "rank" field was included from the beginning and, as you have noticed, is a simple sort that uses games back to order the teams. The "playoff_seed" was added later to incorporate the more complicated NBA tie breaking rules.

Sorry Erik, I just saw that I was talking about the playoff seed. I confused the rank and the playoff seed. I'm so sorry that I can't close this "issue". I will look more carefully before opening a new issue. By the way, what is the point of team rank ? Is it only for MLB ? Xavier
